This painting was a commissioned by a client to brighten up her studio, she gave me a size, colour scheme and theme. I started this piece keeping in mind all of her requests and once nearly done I sent her progress shots asking if it was what she was after and if there was anything that needed to be changed or added, which she told me there needed to be more bees. (If she did completely hate it, it’s not a total loss, I can always start over and put the unwanted piece to a future gallery or to an art shop.) I then added more bees throughout the piece, made bees flying out of the honey combed portal and included the bee-man character riding the dragon. I then sent the client pictures to see if she was happy, she was super stoked and happy with the finished product.
There’s always a bit of anxiety when ordering a commissioned art piece, I always do my best to make sure before starting I have a good idea of the design and to message the client to make sure they are 100% happy.
